City youth to benefit from new league

Young Foxes stars of the future will be able to test themselves against the best of their age group from across the country when they participate in a new under-21s league this season.

As part of the Elite Player Performance Plan, introduced by the Premier League newly for the 2012/13 campaign, Leicester City's youth squad have been entered into in the Northern section of Category Two to face sides from Barnsley, Birmingham City, Coventry City, Crewe Alexandra, Derby County, Huddersfield Town, Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan Athletic.

Along with a similar Southern section of Category Two, a 23-team Category One section has also been created with seventeen Premier League and six Championship clubs represented.
