Leicestershire has been rewarded for its efforts in support of the Football Association's Respect campaign after winning three awards at the 2012 Respect Awards.
Leicester City received the FA Professional Game Award for their commitment to the cause, which culminated in the Respect fixture against Peterborough United in December, where the Foxes, Posh and the Northamptonshire County FA joined forces to promote the campaign.
Meanwhile, Harborough Town were handed the trophy for steps 5-7 of the National League system after they introduced a Respect registration day, supporters' marshals and a Respect subcommittee to operate across all of their 36 youth and senior teams. The Leicestershire and Rutland County FA won the nationwide Grassroots Youth League Award.
"The winners of these awards are an inspirational group of leagues, clubs and individuals," said Dermot Collins, The FA's Respect Manager, "They have decided how they want the game to be played and then take on the responsibility of creating and maintaining Respect in the game. It's a privilege to be able to reward them at The FA's showpiece final and use their example to convince others along the same path."
The recognition will a boost to all levels of football in the county with the Foxes leading by example. The three winners will be represented at the FA Cup Final at Wembley, where they will collect their awards.
