  • That game could have broken City's season. It didn't. The draw, grabbed deservedly in the closing throes, could present a crucial point if the Foxes are going to make this season worthwhile and, whilst a win would have been a bonus, a draw against a team higher in the league - and against a refereeing display of unrivalled ineptitude - is not to be sniffed at.
  • Jermaine Beckford is born. Tonight the former Leeds United and Everton man proved that he can have an impact in the league as well as in the FA Cup. On another day he would have scored a hat-trick against Middlesbrough, with his sumptuous shot that hit the bar and back-heel that fell feebly to Boro keeper Steele both potentially finding the net.

Winners
Jermaine Beckford
His shot that rattled the crossbar after 73 minutes was exquisite. Technically gifted, Beckford can do no more in his efforts to score a hatful of league goals for the Foxes and rightly deserved his goal that gave City an equaliser. Having beaten the goalkeeper to a loose back-pass, Beckford was forced wide of the goal but managed to slot home at an acute angle past the post. This performance underlined his quality - and how unlucky he has been since joining Leicester City as the transfer window closed in August.
David Nugent
Popping up to put the Foxes ahead within the first ten minutes, this was yet another match in which David Nugent put in what is commonly known as 'a good shift'.

Danny Drinkwater
Making his league debut, Danny Drinkwater looked assured and confident in the Leicester City midfield. His passing was direct, effective and dangerous.

Losers
Mr G Ward, Surrey
This was another in a long string of poor refereeing performances of late, with Mr Ward not keen to allow Leicester City any quarter. For some referees, the first half would have yielded multiple red cards whilst Mr Ward saw fit only to dismiss Foxes' manager Nigel Pearson after a half-time disagreement with his poor decision-making. After Jutkiewicz was allowed to elbow Sean St Ledger just before half time and Jermaine Beckford was poleaxed in the 50th, this referee's performance can only be viewed as damaging to the game.

Paul Gallagher
A disappointing performance from the Scot who never really got himself into the game. Rightly substituted after an hour.
