Pantsil is Eriksson's 8th summer signing

Leicester City are set to unveil John Pantsil as the club's eighth signing of this summer's transfer window.

The 30-year-old defender - whose name also appears as 'Paintsil' in some literature - will add depth to an increasingly strong Foxes' back-line, as he joins Matt Mills, Paul Konchesky, Sean St. Ledger and rival right back Lee Peltier as a newcomer to Leicester's back four.

Having been released by Fulham, Pantsil has been widely tipped this week to be linking-up with Sven Goran Eriksson and the travelling Foxes' party on their tour of Austria. However, having signed his three-year deal late in the week it is currently unknown if the Ghanaian international will travel to join his new team-mates.

“I have just signed a three-year contract with Leicester City,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com, “I visited the club yesterday, met the coach and some of the club officials and I am very happy with what I saw. “The club has got a lot of ambition to succeed at the high level with their fantastic fans and that is why I chose to join them despite some other offers."

Pantsil has been capped 66 times in a successful career with the Ghana national team, spanning periods at West Ham United and Fulham in England after playing for Berekum Arsenal and Liberty Professionals in Ghana and Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv in Israel. He moved to Craven Cottage in a combined deal with Bobby Zamora worth at least £6.8 million, appearing 75 times for the Cottagers before falling out-of-favour with new boss Martin Jol last month.
