On tour: Paul Konchesky joins the travelling squad in Sweden |
The left full-back spent a year at Anfield but never featured under Kenny Dalglish and, having spent his entire career in the Premier League, marks a statement of intent from the Foxes of their desire to escape the Championship this season.
Konchesky has now joined-up with Sven Goran Eriksson's Leicester City squad in Sweden and the manager, who selected Konchesky for England during his tenure, is delighted to have signed a player of such high calibre.
"Paul has been a Premier League player year in and year out throughout his career so he represents a very big signing for us," he said, "He wanted to come to Leicester City and it means a lot that proven, established top flight footballers want to be part of what we are building here. I know Paul very well as a player and as a person and he will be a top class addition to our squad."
The 30-year-old started his career at Charlton where he made nearly 150 appearances before moving to West Ham United after a brief loan at Tottenham Hotspur. He then moved to Fulham for a fee in excess of £3 million and went on to make nearly 100 appearances for the Cottagers before agreeing a four-year contract for a similar sum with Liverpool.
