The Foxes will play their local rivals in an early lunchtime kick-off on Saturday, 6th August, making that fixture the curtain-raiser to the new football season.
In an early test for Sven Goran Eriksson's men, the first home fixture of the new term will be against Reading the following week. It will be a busy opening month to the new season, with a trip to East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest and home ties against Bristol City and a returning Southampton.
The festive relationship with the Foxes and Ipswich Town continues with the Tractor Boys chugging to the Walkers Stadium on Boxing Day, with Portsmouth making a long journey north on New Year's Eve. The season will end with a tricky double-header, with the relegated West Ham United visiting the East Midlands on 21st April before the Foxes' season closes a week later, with a trip to Leeds United's Elland Road.
